What YOU Can Learn From Eleah Portillo
Many of you that are in the affiliate space have heard of Eleah Portillo. She has worked at AKMG and is now an affiliate manager over at AdSimilis. While most of the industry are still amazed that girls do indeed exist in affiliate marketing, many don’t notice how truly brilliant she is.
What You Can Learn From Eleah’s Emails
For those of you who are already a member of AdSimilis, you get Eleah’s emails from time to time. If you’re not a member, go signup now. Some of her recent email headlines:
“LAST CALL 4 ALCOHOL!”
- Draws an instant reaction making me want to see exactly what the email is about.
- Caps demand additional attention.
- She knows her target market…I don’t know too many affiliates that don’t enjoy their liquor.
“iPhone/iPad Mobile Monies?”
- Again, knows her target market. What affiliate doesn’t use the term monies?
- Is current with marketing trends. A TON of affiliates are jumping into mobile and are taking note of the rising mobile trend.
“Working in affiliate marketing made you dumber?”
- Calling out her target market. Anytime someone feels insulted or feels as if they could be insulted even, they’re oddly intrigued.
“#Weekend #Winning #Watermelons”
- Use of current popular terms. Seriously, who doesn’t use hashtags or hasn’t heard of Charlie Sheen’s “winning” rants?
- As always, intriguing headline that draws initial reaction from the consumer.
“One Million iPHones…”
- We’re in an industry packed with technology. I don’t think I know any serious affiliate that doesn’t either have an iPhone or some other kind of smart phone.
- Again, leaves you guessing as to what the email could be about and makes you want to read on.
Using Eleah’s Strategies in Your Ads to Increase CTR
- She always uses headlines that draw initial reaction/attention. This is HUGE in this industry. You can’t get conversions if you’re not getting clicks. You can’t get clicks if your ads aren’t creative and innovative.
- She knows how to relate her ads to her target market. It’s amazing how many people think that media buys really don’t have any targeting. They absolutely do, but instead of choosing a bunch of settings in your account (IE: FB, POF, etc) YOU need to call the target market out yourself in your ads.
- She uses current events/statistics to help draw additional attention.
- She calls out her target market. Sometimes you have to pull the user’s attention by asking them questions, just make sure they’re not boring.
Lesson of the day: LEARN from those around you, chances are you’re missing out on a lot of great ideas.
